NPW Provides…

NETWORKING
NPW spring and fall conferences provide networking and professional development opportunities. The conferences are held in various locations around the state and utilize area experts. Each conference features workshops, speakers and discussions designed to enhance members’ knowledge and skills as well as to promote interaction and the exchange of ideas and information.

FEEDBACK
Media professionals provide feedback on every entry submitted to NPW’s annual communications contest. First place entries advance to the national competition. This method is used for both the professional contest and for the high school contest, which is endorsed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

RECOGNITION
Each year NPW recognizes a Communicator of Achievement from within its organization and also inducts new members into the Nebraska Women Journalists Hall of Fame, open to all. In addition, NPW provides two scholarships: one to a high school senior planning to seek a post-secondary education in a communications-related field, and one to a Nebraska full-time college or university communications student entering at least the junior year.
NPW Is…
Nebraska Press Women is a dynamic organization of women and men who are engaged in careers spanning the communications spectrum. Some are new to the communications industry. Many are experienced professionals, both active and retired. Some live in rural areas, others in cities.
Individually, we work in print and electronic journalism, public relations, advertising, freelancing, graphic design, digital media, marketing, photography and more. We’re authors and educators. We work for schools, government, non-profits and companies, both large and small.
Collectively we are committed to the highest ethical standards in communications, protecting First Amendment rights, professional growth, the next generation of communicators and networking with each other.
We draw strength, enrichment and friendship from one another.
